Pomeron intercept and slope: the QCD connection
The ratio of intercept to slope of the Pomeron trajectory is derived in a phenomenological model based on a QCD approach to diffraction.
متن کاملViscous Regularization of the Euler Equations and Entropy Principles
This paper investigates a general class of viscous regularizations of the compressible Euler equations. A unique regularization is identified that is compatible with all the generalized entropies, à la [Harten et al., SIAM J. Numer. Anal., 35 (1998), pp. 2117–2127], and satisfies the minimum entropy principle. A connection with a recently proposed phenomenological model by [H. Brenner, Phys. A,...
متن کاملPhenomenological evidence for the energy dependence of the η - η ′ mixing angle
A phenomenological analysis on various decay processes is performed using an energy-dependent η-η′ mixing angle scheme. Special attention is given to the electromagnetic couplings between lowest-lying vector and pseudoscalar mesons. The agreement between our predictions and the experimental values is remarkable. This analysis opens a connection to two-angle fits in the η-η′ sector.
متن کاملInteractions of Magnetic Monopoles with Nuclei and Atoms: Formation of Bound States and Phenomenological Consequences
We discuss the binding of magnetic monopoles to nuclear and atomic systems. The energy spectrum is calculated, by assuming an interaction with a hard core. The formation process of monopole-nucleus bound states is analysed and it is shown that monopoles reaching Earth are most likely bound to a proton. We also discuss phenomenological implications of the existence of bound states in connection ...
متن کاملProbabilistic inference of short-term synaptic plasticity in neocortical microcircuits
Short-term synaptic plasticity is highly diverse across brain area, cortical layer, cell type, and developmental stage. Since short-term plasticity (STP) strongly shapes neural dynamics, this diversity suggests a specific and essential role in neural information processing. Therefore, a correct characterization of short-term synaptic plasticity is an important step towards understanding and mod...
متن کاملGDH2000 Convenor’s Report: Spin Polarizabilities
The subject of low energy polarized Compton scattering form the proton, which is characterized by phenomenological spinpolarizabilities, is introduced and connection is made to new theoretical and experimental developments which were reported to this meeting.
